As you may know, I Love Cob! I inherited the web site Cob Workshops a while back, and finally got around to designing a new fancy version. Cob Workshops is a free listing for cob building workshops and events. The new site features new search functionality, ability for workshop hosts to submit events, and a message board. We’ve also added the ability to pay via PayPal for those that would like to feature their event across the site. Earth building is a passion of mine, and it’s fun to develop a new site to turn people on to the natural building material – cob.
Every year I donate my time to a worthy not-for-profit cause. This year ( and last ) the Natural Building Network received my time. We developed a WordPress powered web site that allows members to post articles and events. Member profiles can be updated by the member and are displayed in the Member Directory. We used aMember for account tracking and member subscriptions. aMember is a type of middle-ware that allows one user account across multiple open-source software systems. This is a good example of extending WordPress beyond the regular blog. There are many new features in the works, so stay tuned!
Michael Lions is an actor, feng shui consultant, natural builder, and documentary host. Michael is working on a new series, which I’m particularly interested in, called Alternative Directions. Where he documents alternative ways of living. In the latest DVD he features a straw bale green house under construction with natural, renewable materials. We’ve developed a WordPress powered web site and custom theme. Future plans include business cards, media packets, and custom graphic design. Stay tuned!
Director, Zina Brown, revealed the world wide launch of Thousand Names Productions this week. Zina creates fantastical dream like productions and music videos in New York. We created a new site, powered by WordPress, with custom Flash elements and high resolution QuickTime videos of his work.
Old friend Jaslyn Dobrahner and I created a brand new site for her business Ethical Asset Consulting. She specializes in providing customized, business-based animal welfare consulting. I created a WordPress powered website with a custom Ethical Asset Consulting theme.
Doug Shidell and I developed a whole new site for his publishing company, Bikeverywhere. This month we launched the new WordPress powered website equip with a shopping cart where Doug sells digital and paper bike maps for the Midwest and his new book Bicycle Vacation Guide. Doug features news on bike trail construction and helpful links for the best kind of transportation, the human powered bicycle.
