As you may know, I Love Cob! I inherited the web site Cob Workshops a while back, and finally got around to designing a new fancy version. Cob Workshops is a free listing for cob building workshops and events. The new site features new search functionality, ability for workshop hosts to submit events, and a message board. We’ve also added the ability to pay via PayPal for those that would like to feature their event across the site. Earth building is a passion of mine, and it’s fun to develop a new site to turn people on to the natural building material – cob.

Every year I donate my time to a worthy not-for-profit cause. This year ( and last ) the Natural Building Network received my time. We developed a WordPress powered web site that allows members to post articles and events. Member profiles can be updated by the member and are displayed in the Member Directory. We used aMember for account tracking and member subscriptions. aMember is a type of middle-ware that allows one user account across multiple open-source software systems. This is a good example of extending WordPress beyond the regular blog. There are many new features in the works, so stay tuned!
